A Tip to Plan Your Frat Formal Show

11/06/2017

As fall sets in, you may already be planning your fraternity formal next year. If you're the social chair in college, you'll be combing through options to make it the most memorable college party that everyone will talk about for years to come with fond remembrance.

Many frat parties take it elsewhere. You can be sure that right now, many fraternity brothers are planning a trip to New Orleans next spring. While NOLA is great and so is Las Vegas or Nashville, sometimes you can have a blast right here at the frat house. You get to save travel money, and you can bet there's going to be almost full turnout.

Plus, no one has to worry about where they are if they get too rowdy and end up passing out during the formal. Many frats like to keep their frat parties local. And you can still have one hell of a party to match New Orleans as far as live music and free flowing alcohol goes, by bringing in an artist to rev up the crowd.

Find an Upcoming Talent for the Show

One of the best things you can do for your local frat party is to book an artist for a party. There are a couple of things you need to be careful about though. Make sure you are very clear about your budget, and be realistic about who you can invite.

There are some really popular outfits that set the mood at frat parties, like Waka Flocka, Juicy J and Riff Raff. But sometimes, it's best to find an upcoming talent that is not too popular yet. They are more likely to stay around for a longer show, and afterwards for pictures. Someone approachable would be far more fun for the crowd than someone who only plays two songs (at the same price or more) and leaves just as the crowd is enjoying themselves.

In the end, there is no rulebook on how to plan a fraternity formal. Get creative and plan in advance. Have two or three alternative options for the big event of the night. That way if the main artist fails you in the last moment, you can coolly rescue the show and make the party a success anyway.

Of course, instead of inviting someone to the frat house lawns, you could always travel somewhere with a stage and dancefloor for the show. The college road trip planner will help you plan the stops along the way!
